The home, a Texas Dogtrot with a Salt Box shape and Greek Revival porch, is listed in the Texas and National Historic Registers.  Additional buildings reflect the era in their architecture.   All designs capture the essence of history.  Old structures have been converted to become unique lodgings with salvaged materials, authentic details, old lumber, and antique doors.  A wooden windmill and stone cistern house add to the atmosphere of living history.

Landscaping on the spacious property nurtures native plants, blooming shrubs, and towering trees.  Seasonal color is enhanced by antique roses, wild flowers, perennials and glorious annuals.  The flora creates habitats for butterflies, fireflies, and more of nature's bounty.

A pergola connecting the Baines House and the Carriage House uses doors from the chapel of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Belton.  An arbor covered in vines leads to elegant statues and paving brick walks and patios built from brick streets around Baylor University, Waco.   Soft cooing sounds will guide you to our dove cote.  Visit with our parrot, who is much more vocal, near the large screened back porch of the Baines House.
